We finally got the outside lights up. In our neighborhood the lights go up very early. We were looking like ‘the only house on the block that doesn’t celebrate Christmas’ so getting up the luminarias etc. was a relief. Mercifully, most of the strands did not tangle and were working. We don’t have as much up as last year, but they look “good enough”.
We also got the tree decorated. It has lots of bears on it, both ornaments and small stuffed teddies.
We stopped being cheap turned on the heat for the first time last weekend Flannel sheets are on the bed. Because of these two interventions I have a snuggly good night’s sleep.
Last weekend we got the stocking stuffers and Secret Santas to UPS in time for Christmas. I called Zingerman’s for delivery to some friends.
We decided to limit gift giving this year, so the few, modest Christmas prizes won’t take long to wrap. I hope he likes them.
We volunteered to have the neighbors over for brunch next Sunday, so we need to plan a menu/shop/cook etc. this week. These things tend to get out of hand. What starts as modest meal grows into a spectacle with way too many leftovers.
I haven’t done the annual watching of “Rudolph’ and ‘Grinch’ and the George C. Scott version of “A Christmas Carol” but I hope to see them this week.
Phew!

Sounds like you have it all planned out
I bet your tree is cute with all of the teddy bears.
The version of A Christmas Carol with Mr. Scott is my favorite, ever since seeing it in school.

The season is so busy, isn’t it?
I’m sure Someone will love your gifts.

It’s hard to keep party planning under control. At least it is for me.

Well Done on all of your accomplishments. Now it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the Holiday.

So now the neighborhood is complete, with your outdoor decor.
I admire your holiday spirit. Such a nice array of activities, and a variety of graphics here on your blog over the past weeks!
James and I really don’t “do” gifts, since every day feels like Christmas to us — I know that sounds sappy…
Anyway, he’s decided to give large jars of homemade scones to my family and our friends as gifts this year.

I threw the budget out the window this year. The kid-cousins needed a “Katie bar the door” Christmas, and I’m going to give it to them. Maybe next year I’ll do better.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Laurie

We put our lights up the day after Thanksgiving. That’s the last thing we have done. On Sunday, we decided we’d forego the tree this year. I guess 2007 is the year of the total Scrooge Christmas.

No Christmas tree…
No Christmas tree…
How wonderful and light…
Nope I figure I’ll wait till I get to Canada and gaze at my step mom’s ‘decorator’ christmas tree.
It doesn’t feel like Christmas yet because we’ve all been working far too hard.
Maybe when I get to Canada
I also blew the budget this year. But I’ve resolved not to do that next year. Its so un necessary!
Have a happy one. Count the number of dishes you’re making for Sunday and take away two and add a green salad.
xx
