This is Random Thoughts #42, which is supposed to be the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, but I forget what was the question……
I thank you all for your support and thoughts from yesterday’s rant.
Out of curiosity I dyed my beard to get out the gray. Now I look like Billy Mays. Oh my Lord.
My recent labs were good – cholesterol, HDLs, LDLs, TG etc. were WNL. Thank you red rice yeast! My PSA was tested and it is 0.5. Apparently this is ‘very low’. My doctor says sometimes PSA goes up after sexual activity. I see these two as connected viz. I am not getting enough….. I got a H1N1 shot. I qualified as a health care worker. I feel somewhat guilty for having gotten it viz. I wanted to pass it on to someone more deserving. My doctor assured me he had enough.
Mostly we talked about sewing, as I brought him a Spo-shirt to see. (at his request). I was so busy at work today I had no time to change into my usual white shirt/tie and jacket. So I spent the day in a Hawaiian shirt. The APA secret police did not come to arrest me for failing to dress up to professional standards. The majority of patients thought I was stunning. The new patient was appalled however. She had a look like I just sneezed on her best dress.
Tonight we saw “Swan Lake”. I’ve been longing to see it, and now I have. I liked it. It made me think of “Love Valor and Compassion”.

Tomorrow I fly to Detroit to attend the memorial service for Richard. I talked about him last week. I will see my new niece. I doubt I will have much time to visit my blogger buddies. I will miss you – I will get caught up this Sunday.

I had to Google Billy Mays (being from Australia and all) – I hope the doctor checked your blood pressure! Plus keep away from cocaine.
Now, I need to talk to you about dyeing out gray: my advice is – don’t do it! It often looks fake, but I’d need to see a new pic to find out how it looks on you. Gray on a man is distinguished and very attractive – trust me, my husband is 12 years older than me! (Come to think of it – I’m starting to gray as well, though I’m only in my mid [ok - late] thirties…)

Don’t forget your towel.
FYI: I think you look very handsome naturally, and I think natural greying is attractive, alluring and distinguishing on men. tI’m sad so many feel the need to dye their hair to look younger or more attractive. My hubby is greying in beard and dyed it once but has stopped doing. When he stopped, so many people told him how much more attractive his natural grey looked. BUT, it’s your face and your hair and if you feel better/younger/sexier/happier dying it, then that’s what you should do. Either way. you still churn my butter

Dying the beard – ha! I used to dye mine regularly, however, since my beard is almost totally white i had to leave it on a little longer to get good coverage. But then I had to dye my hair to match – which is mostly silver.
Needless to say, people were like, “Ooooh here’s comes RG with his dyed beard and hair!”. I gave up a longtime ago. I like my Daddy look, such as it is.
BTW, did you dye the carpet to match the drapes? Hmmmm?

I dyed my beard a couple of times and the gray at the temples… I don’t anymore and have accepted my daddyness. I think the mature man with no gray is someone not happy in their own skin.
Safe travels to Michigan! Pack something warm!

I have alot of gray in my beard and when it grows long the remaining red give me a Yosemite Sam look. I will not dye it back to red. Redheads do not look good dyed. I remember my childhood and my Mom dyeing her hair red and every week it was “Guess the Shade”. I will stay with what I got.
My gray is actually white so some day I will resemble Gandalf; which is cool, I’ll play it up. An olde queen with a long beard, I’ll get a staff, someone will but me drinks, it’ll be fun
.
Have a safe trip. And whatever you do remember safety first and go peacefully.

I’m too much of a scardey-cat to dye anything….I’m just embracing the grey.

Hon, you’re waay prettier than Billy and don’t have the weird pseudo-combover that he had. Love you with the grey, dear.
Thanks for the Love, Valor, Compassion shot! I finally got around to seeing that movie recently, and it hit me kinda deep. Who knew.
Cheers
Have a great trip!

By the way, who are the people in your banner picture? They’re probably cult-famous and I’m just a nudnik who doesn’t know who they are! They look scary.

You know, that Swan Lake pic made me think of the dancers for Annie Lenox’s “No More I Love Yous”.
Good to see you’re doing well. I got my H1N1 shot from work…good thing too, because I know of five people (throughout the U.S.) who have since contracted the virus. ‘Tisn’t pretty.

Two things come to mind here. 1) My favorite “Love! Valour! Compassion!” scene is Buzz and James sitting together outside, sewing Swan Lake costumes, flirting, and growing fond of one other. Don’t ask my why but the combo of man-on-man sewing and flirting is charming. 2) Matthew Bourne’s “Swan Lake” with male swans. Yummy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_n-VIwgXC4
