I didn’t sleep too well last night thanks to Harper the bed pig. She tends to take over my side of the bed during the night. When I get up in the night to take a leak she uses these opportunities to roll over into my spot. Like the rocks of Stonehenge, nothing moves her over.
I weigh 171lb this morning, which is unaltered from a fortnight ago. I think I am eating less, yet unable to loose weight. It is a disappointment. The only ‘downside” I am experiencing is missing eating proper food.
We have a live from the Met HD opera this morning. It is a ‘new opera’ apparently made up of all French arias from the 17th and 18th centuries. I am looking forward to this, for it stars David Daniels. I know Mr. Daniels slightly, for a friend of mine sometimes plays the piano for him. Mr. Daniels is a hotty; and seeing him close up for a few hours will be almost as good as the music.
The rest of the day isn’t going to be that interesting. I have a lot of paperwork/homework to do. I have a week of journals and medical newspapers to read, and I should get to the gym. We are shopping for a new computer, so perhaps we will go a-looking.
There will be some mild amusements. I only have to sew on the buttons and – viola! Cajun’s Spo Shirt is completed. Finally! It is long overdue.

Enjoy the opera. I am not getting out from under the blanket today….It is 2.1 degrees here in Iowa and I have chili to heat up and a good book to read. Perhaps I will catch the Encore.

We’ll be seeing it together, just from opposite ends of the country. It is made up of French and English/Italian/German arias (ie. from operas written for London in Italian by the German Handel). Pastiche (“operas” assembled from lots of other composers’ work) was once quite common. Handel actually pastiched himself. Enjoy! and please post a comment

Do let Harper know that until she develops opposable thumbs and can sign the mortgage check, you are in charge.

Yes, I know David Daniels – though NOT personally (sigh!), and he certainly is a hottie.
I think my Blackso outdoes Harper in sheer bed-possession impudence. Does Harper snore? My little one does, like a mini fog-horn right into my ear. He settles under the duvet next to my pillow, sleeping across one arm to get some of my body-heat while expecting me to sleep holding the duvet up away from his head. There are few things more trying than a pussy in the bed!
Yes, do enjoy the opera – and btw: that is a crafty insertion of yours, in your ante-penultimate sentence above, (or is it last but three?) of a reference to ‘Twelfth Night’. You didn’t think anyone would notice, did you?

Just to clarify my final remark, Dr Spo – I’m assuming, unless you say to the contrary, that you are making a veiled reference to the gender-identity issues in that play. You are SO cunning!

First of all, if you’re shopping for a computer PLEASE GET AN iMAC! Get the 27 inch screen. Believe me, you will never regret leaving Windows!!!!! If you do nothing else in your life, please LEAVE MICROSOFT AND ALL WINDOWS BASED PRODUCTS!!!!!! I know whereof I speak.
And while I’m on the subject, do you have Steve Jobs biography? If not, do not buy it, I will send you my copy. I just finished it today. The book is much more than a biography of one man, it illuminates a whole new way of thinking about life and people. Steve Jobs may not have had perfect people skills (in fact he had terrible people skills) but he was a genius in his outlook on life and what one individual can do to contribute toward the betterment of (and I hope I’m not being too grandiose here) MANKIND.
As usual, I always enjoy visiting your blog. Today was a dreary Saturday and I am a bit down in the dumps but reading about your and your Bed Battles with Harper brought a smile to my wizened face.

Dear Urspo

Thanks.

Robert and I were in the audience as well. Daniels and the others were delightful – though I doubt I’d take him overly seriously as angry. “Oh look, he’s trying to be threatening. How adorable!” And if I’m accused of trying to peek up Lysander’s left pant-leg, I wanna call my lawyer.
I wish I could say I loved the libretto as much. There were so many strange phrasing and strained usages I left thinking “Did he just FINISH writing before the curtain rose?”
We giggled as “Hermia” walked on and started to park it on the stage to start the 2nd act. I expected her to yell “Yo, Voight! Get’cher ass off stage, we’re singin’ here.”
Götterdämmerung in a couple of weeks!

How is it possible I weigh 6 pounds less than you but look like a slob while you look so trim? It must be muscle density. You must have way more muscle mass than me.

I have a fat head.
