“Antepenultimate” is useful word I learned only yesterday. It means “third from the last”, an apt word for Dec 29th.
We spent “Antepenultimate Day” mostly looking at airplane options. We have quite a few flights to arrange:
January – Uncle’s memorial service is 5 January.
February – The trip to Mexico.
March – The Delaware blogger jamobaree, which some are calling “Spoamageddon” and others are calling “Spoactular” and others are calling Late for Dinner.
April – A trip to Colorado to visit relatives
and
August – The annual trek to Canada.
These are the ones we know; perhaps there will be others.
None of these travel arrangements are easily solidified. Not only is it difficult to compare flights options (so many variables!) each trip involves coordinating others at the receiving end. It is sometimes like herding cats.
This evening I made bourbon balls, something I was going to do for Christmas but didn’t have the time. With the ingredients still sitting there, I figured what the hell, I would make them and free them for later. They are almost pure sugar apart from the booze. I used the cheaper bourbon and I hope no one is the wiser for it.
Earlier today I bought the blank journal for 2013. This one is a light ‘Key West Blue” and a bit whimsical. Tomorrow I will read Journal 2012 and remember what the heck happened.

Don’t forget Spopocalypse. Hey, don’t be telling us the March trip isn’t yet solidified. Come on Spo, firmed it up!

Cubby,
Five room reservations at the hotel so far for a total of at least ten guests staying at the hotel. Mark and Joe live in Lewes and will probably attend along with you and your Other. That makes at least 15 so far for the “Spotacular Spopocalypse” . Dr. Spo and Someone will be arriving in Lewes, First Town in the First State, late Friday, March 22nd. A “Meat and Great” will be held in the Waterview Room from 6 pm to 8 pm Saturday, March 23rd at which time photo will be taken, speeches given, and homage paid to Dr. Spo and Someone in the form of Jolly Good Fun Gifts (of your choosing).
Need more information send me an e-mail.

Spo and Someone won’t be arriving anywhere if they don’t have their plane tickets bought. That’s what I was alluding to.

Heavens to Betsy! You would think people are coming for an audience with the Queen Mum. My ‘gifts and homage’ are the company and good cheer of bloggers far and new, ones I know and don’t know yet. That is quite enough. For those insisting on more, I prefer coloured gems to diamonds.

have you looked into kayak.com for flights?
LOVE the colour of the new journal AND bourbon balls (heh heh heh, I said “balls”).

‘Scuse me, I don’t like to rub it in (Don’t I heck!) but I’ve known that word for over FIFTY YEARS! Clearly the education meted out by priests of the ‘Society of Mary’ was of SOME use.
However, for that cheeky bit of getting one over on you (rare enough though that is), I’ll now do penance by visualising one of your sugar-saturated balls in my mouth – my health situation now sadly precluding ever actually experiencing that particular fantasy. – Ooooooh, by golly, they DO taste ever so good! Mmmmmmm.

Inspired by Raybeard – just substitute Chef for Spo and Vanilla for Chocolate

Bourbon balls; I make rum balls or whiskey balls. Always very popular but as you say all sugar and booze. Always a treat to pop a few balls in your mouth for some Christmas Cheer.

In the immortal words of Billy DeWolfe, you are “Busy, busy, busy.” I also purchased a Journal, Mine is Burgundy.. Not sure if I will use it the same way you use yours because past practice tells me that it will mostly go unwritten in but we shall see. Happy New Year.

Mmmmm the balls sound great. And “antepenultimate” is a terrific word, thanks for teaching it to me.

May I suggest “Spopopalouza”? You’ve more energy than I, given the last few weeks, I believe I’d have drunk the bourbon and looked fondly at the other ingredients.

I’m not a fan of bourbon but I love rum balls! Your journal is pretty but I’m a little surprised why you still write in a physical journal when there are electronic versions like blogs. Looking forward to the east coast blogger meet-up! Spouse & I don’t need a room at the Inn… we can walk the 4 blocks from our house.

I’ve kept journals since the 70s – thanks to blogging I don’t write as much in them now – the are more log books of what I’ve done rather than prose, that’s for blogging now.
Sent from nowhere in particular.

I have to say that I’m quite impressed you keep both a paper written blog and a digital one.
