Will (the dear!) gave me inspiration for a meme entry just when I needed something….
Four names I go by: Spo, Mike, Mick, and Doc Roc.
Four tunes I adore: “Beim Schlafengehen”, “Candle on the water”, “I’m still here”, “Stuck (Caro Emerald)”
Four things I hate: spiders, pop-up ads, rudeness, and the song “Don’t stop believing”
Four places I have worked: Jacobson’s, an Illinois State Hospital, a private practice in Evanston IL, and the Ram’s Horn restaurant.
Four things I love to watch: Youtube science vlogs, opera, sunsets, and woofy men in public.
Four places I have visited: Stonehenge, the most southern spots in the USA (Key West and the Big Island of Hawaii), an active volcano (Costa Rica), and the home of Charles Dickens.
Four things I love to eat: sockeye salmon, (nasty) chips, homegrown tomatoes, and Mother’s gingerbread cookies.
Four favorite drinks: Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling tea, Woodford bourbon, Pol Roger champagne, and Vernors.
Four shows/plays: Ghosts, The Bacchae, Waiting for Godot, and A midsummer night’s dream.
Four things I am happily anticipating: Mother’s birthday party, a possible trip to PEI, a Loreena McKennitt concert, and the opera “Elektra” .
Four things I am dreading: doing the taxes, a deposition, the Phoenix summer heat, and the presidential election.
Four items on my bucket list: see the northern lights, visit a tea plantation, read Pepys diary, and ride a hot air balloon.
Four people I think will respond: Travel Penguin, Ron T, Fearsome Beard, and AM Warrior Queen.
Now it is your turn. Copy and paste the meme and put in your own answers.

Re:Your four shows – I give you both thumbs-up for choosing ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Godot’.
I’ve just finished re-reading a Shakespeare play for March, as I’ve done every single month for around 50 years, and this month it was once more the turn of MND, for what must be something like its 17th time. It struck me as never before, that for sheer beauty of language and vividness of imagery, not to mention the counterpoint artifice of the drama itself, this has just got to be one of his very, very best – perhaps even the absolute pinnacle of his plays. It simply took my breath away – for the umpteenth time!

It is lovely poetry. I judge a production on how well the prose comes across despite whatever settings and gimmicks the director has trumped up this time.

Yes, I’ve seen several stage productions, some of them good, some grotty or stupid – but the high excellence of the language seems impervious to being destroyed by silly distractions. How such an extraordinary work came out of the mind of a ‘mere’ man is beyond remarkable.

Great answers to this meme! As a photographer, I would love to see the northern lights and ride in a hot air balloon. Looking forward to Spring and heirloom tomatoes. 🙂

So, “Four Shows/Plays” – you’ve seen? you like? you want to see? are your favorites? to avoid?

These are four plays I very much enjoy and would see again and again and I highly recommend to Spo-fans.

I will do this. Based on my non-Lenten non-reflection, I had started a post of “29 things about me” for Leap Day, but it fizzled and I had done something too similar in January. This will give me a different focus.

I only do threesomes! Wow, you know who Loreena Mckennitt is? As in the Canadian Celtic singer? If it’s the same person I did see her in concert, twice I think. I have been a fan since she was a busker off the streets. As for the rest of your answers, now that I know a little more about you…. we can’t be friends anymore. No, no just teasing, I’m totally with you on spiders, yuck, creepy things, I know they are good for the environment but they can eat bugs somewhere far from me… (willies).

I have been a fan of LM for many years; I have seen her in concert a few times. Through a mutual friend in Stratford, Ontario, I have met her a few times and like to consider her an acquaintance – although this may be more fantasy than reality.

The first time I heard Loreena McKennitt was walking past a shop in the city of Ubud in Bali. ‘Marco Polo’ from ‘The Book of Secrets’ was the tune. How ’bout that?

I’d love to see the Northern Lights, as well. It ties in with my desire to visit Iceland.

I acknowledge memes for two people can be tender and rewarding but memes for four or more sound fantastic.
I also would like to take a hot air balloon ride sometime.

I’ll have to add seeing “Godot” on my bucket list. I’ve read it several times, but can’t fully appreciate it until I see it performed. Oh, to have seen the 1988 production with Robin Williams and Steve Martin, or the more recent Nathan Lane production!
