Patience above! It’s been days since my last blog-entry! The Board of Directors Here at Spo-reflections returned this morning having been away for a week visiting relations in Svartalfheim. They are livid at the lack of entries and are withholding my souvenir* until I put out as it were. I’ve postponed all Saturday morning there’s-work-to-be-done chores lest I have my wrists smashed.
It’s been a tough week. Sometimes work rattles me and last week did so. I encountered more than usual sorrow. A man’s teenaged child died in a car wreck; a woman came home from a trip to find her spouse had packed up her belongings and put them outside and changed the locks. A patient with long time battle with depression was just getting better only to announce she now has cancer. As if often the case I wonder what on earth am I to do.
I grew a tomato! Finally! On the negative it was only as big as a cherry tomato and it was consumed quick as quarter-note. All that work for one bite. Alas, it didn’t have much taste, probably from the terrior of the land which is nasty desert stuff.
The Cup Sprites have increased their activity as demonstrated by the more-than-average half-consumed beverages popping up around Das Spo-Haus. Someone has politely asked me to cut it out as if I had any say on the subject. Duckduckgo isn’t much help when it comes to research on how to exorcise attention-deficit-disorder like fairy-folk. I found a recipe of parsley, sage, rosemary, and methylphenidate; it sounds worth a try.
This evening we attend the ballet which will be outdoors at the Botanical Desert Gardens. It gives me the heebie-jeebies seeing bare legs doing Croisé among the cacti. Someone and I are still suffering from allergies so we plan on taking Zyrtec or something prior to going. No doubt we will be asleep in no time so I needn’t worry about sneezing or dancers falling onto the opuntia.
OK, I promise to write a proper entry tomorrow.
*Probably a T-shirt (wrong size as usual) or a herring.

Oh dear. That is a lot of bad news. I wonder how you deal with it without letting it get to you?
Congratulations on the tomato! As I recall you have had some success before, but every homegrown tomato is to be celebrated and appreciated.
One mechanism for foiling the Cup Sprites is to own only two cups: one for Someone and one for Spo. Then the Sprites will have a limited number of half-consumed drinks to strew around the Casa.

That last suggestion is brilliant! Good thinking! Someone will be all for it. More than once he’s remonstrated we have far too many mugs and I am not to bring any more home. I’ve cleared some out but the Cup Sprites seem to replenish them when they are not moving things about.

“Parsley, sage, rosemary, and methylphenidate” — is that a remake of the old Simon & Garfunkel classic for our modern times?

I added a session to my conference agenda on secondary trauma, caring for the advocate, caring for others takes a toll, and YES, you do make a positive difference. Gather up the cups, run this dishwasher.

The cups are collected for now. Let’s see what happens next.

Definitely sounded like a hectic work week with the unfortunate woes of your clients. Hopefully the new week brings you better news. Enjoy the outdoor performance and concentrate on relaxing. Thank you for the chuckle on the “Croisé among the cacti”. 🙂

Thank you. I am very careful to the prosody and rhythm of my prose.

I’m sorry to hear all of that is going on. It reminds me of this one policy I looked at earlier in the week. The insured passed away in the emergency room on Christmas night and the son is still trying to wrap up her affairs as we speak. I was glad it was the end of my work day because it had me feeling down for the rest of the evening.
Have fun at the ballet tonight. I’m loafing around until I get to watch a Japanese auto race on YouTube at 1030 ish PST.

I did not know the Japanese raced autos that sounds fascinating to me

Warrior Queen promises to write a proper comment tomorrow.
You might be able to pair the herring with your cherry tomato. Oh you already ate the tomato? Nevermind!
Hope you have a better week coming up.

That does sound like a very sorrow filled day. That’s why I don’t think I could do your job, I would have empathy overload.
Congrats on the tomato, now the plant should start producing more. What is the problem? Is the soil just too low in organic matter or something more complicated like ph issues etc?

Yipee for tomatoes! Even if it’s only the one…

I know I could not do your job. I would be drained to the max every day. I have planted tomatoes too! They are green now, but they look healthy. My first attempt at growing them.

I have a rather exquisite scotch to try this week; it’s not a large horn but sometimes size isn’t so important than the flavor.
