Spo fans far and wide are asking me to shut up for guidance on tea. I thought I would start a new series named “Urspo’s Guide to Tea”. I will provide all you need to know about tea, its history, the varieties, the brewing instructions, and its medicinal attributes.
I thought I would start off the lecture series with this ‘intro’ video. It is an absolute gem. Mr. Narrator himself and the summary are worth the watch, even if you don’t have a canteen.

India and the Empire, the good old days. Mind you in China the whole adding milk part would not appear as tea is drunk as is. The fresh clean boiling water part is very important as I learned while living in Beijing. You should see the area of town where they keep all the tea in China, very impressive with so many shops selling numerous kinds of teas. I just loved visiting that area of Beijing.

Number 1: Always use a good quality tea.
For some reason, I can see you saying this as you make your pot in the morning. Plus adding the phrase, “No rubbish”. LOL
I love the background music for this informational movie. I half expected The Little Rascals to show up!

I dunno, maybe it is just me, but I kinda found the way Mr. Narrator was fondling the loose tea and letting it drop loosely through his fingers kinda erotic in weird sort of way…also, the starched white lab coat and the authoritarian tone has distinct possibilities….what happens in the Home for Boys Who Make Bad Tea?

Do have this video playing in the background everyday while you are preparing your cup of tea? Looks like too much work for me. m.

Happily I am not supplying a canteen. My cups are more soothing – Lesson #3 will show

Thank you for doing this Spo. I’m looking forward to Lesson #2. I’m going to start searching for a place to buy tea that isn’t in a bag. That’s the part that I’m worried about.

Not to be worrying – I have 10 lessons planned. You will be a tea-snoot soon enough !

I love this video… Now off to make a really bad cup of tea… with work supplied tea bags, water that is barely warm, into a cold cup, steeped for only a minute at best.

Do you want me to send Mr. Narrorator ?

While I have never really appreciated tea (or coffee, for that matter), I did enjoy the video. Those eyebrows are mesmerizing. I want a background score playing when I teach, too.

I remember now that the area was called Ma Lian Dao in South west Beijing.
Lots of wonderful fresh leaves of many different kind of teas and with various degrees of quality, the higher the quality, the higher the price. They even have consultants to help you select the tea you want.

I’m kinda afraid of Mr. Narrator, he looks sinister, like he’s ready to chop the girls’ hands off if she breaks any of the rules!

I love how he talks about the importance of not contaminating the tea as he fondles it with his dirty, grubby fingers that were probably down his pants ten minutes prior. His fondling techniques might me more well-suited if he turned his palm supine and headed for the men’s room with a swarthy colleague.

OMG, did my post of not getting a cup of coffee in the morning set you off?! I do like tea, the good stuff, but not to wake up to. 😉

Quite lovely, to be sure.
Alas, my teapot was lost in the settlement and I am reduced to brewing a single cup (mug) at a time. My teaball is ancient, but does the job. Loose tea is hard to find here, but I do find a variety in bags in a few stores.
Mr. Narrator is a bit harsh, not to mention rigid. All in all, the video was a great laugh.
