Rock’em Sock’em !
When I was in Seattle (Land of Coffee) I went to Archie McPhee and got me a Carl Jung Action Figure !
For Spo-fans unfamiliar with Herr Doctor, he was a Swiss psychiatrist, who lived from 1875 to 1961.
He developed psychological ideas like The Collective Unconscious, The Archetype, Introvert/Extrovert personalities, and made The Complex into something more than wanting to sleep with mumsy.
Some of my favorite Jungian quotes –
“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
“Every country gets the foreigners it deserves.”
“As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being.”
“The greatest and most important problems of life are fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved by only outgrown.”
“Only the wound physician heals.”
“Even the Pope has a confessor.”
“Don’t go chasing after infantile memories. Neurotics like nothing better than wallowing in the evils of the past and self-pity.” (paraphrased)
and his last words –
“Let’s have a really good red wine tonight.”

Oh, that’s easy. A dichotomous key.

Love the action figure! I have one of Edgar Allan Poe sitting on my desk here at the office, complete with a raven on his shoulder.

This is one quote the Holy See at the Vatican would love to use in light of current scandals.
“Don’t go chasing after infantile memories. Neurotics like nothing better than wallowing in the evils of the past and self-pity.”
I wonder if Jung was Roman Catholic, would be useful to Church strategy.

His father was a Swiss Calvinist, which influenced a lot of his work Dr. Jung liked the Catholic church for its ritual and richness of symbolism etc. But he never went as far as joining it (I am not 100% certain here; i should know this though!). He advocated his RC patients attend mass – to be in touch with the archetypal energies therein.

My father told me that little boys who play with dolls grow up to be (patently) queer. Man, was he ever right!

Does that include GI Joes? I remember causing an uproar at school when I raised my hand to the question “Who here plays with dolls?”.
My explanation GI Joe was my doll was negated – he was an action figure, not a doll. Even at 7 years old I smelled a rat on this one.

I’ll wait for the anatomically correct G.I. Joe action figure, thanks! 😉

I think one of the Billy dolls bears a remarkable likeness to GI Joe 🙂

Love it.
As a kid I always wanted a doll and a doll’s house. Instead my parents bought me a “Big Jim” action figure and camper van…so I spent my time taking the pants off a man with huge pecs and a six pack…that would have been sure to make me straighter.

A Jung action figure. How nifty. I have a t-shirt that says “Forever Jung” that I like to wear to my psychology classes sometimes. A little Jung action figure sitting on my shoulder would clench the deal, don’t you think?

My mother got me a Mary Poppin’s doll when I was 6. I cried because she was in her raincoat and not the Jolly Holiday attire I desired. You look good as an action figure.

Lets get your Jung Action Figure and my GI Joe (with the red beard and the masturbation Kung-Fu grip) together and see what happens.

Dr Jung would tell Mr. Joe he is far too much in tune with The Warrior Complex.

Hello,
Do you know where the Jung action figure can be purchased from? It seems they have discontinued the Jung one. But I know some people who have found some recently, the shop only had 2 left.
